Via The Asahi Shinbun: A man armed with a saw attacked AKB48 members Rina Kawaei and Anna Iriyama as well as an event staff member at a meet-and-greet event last 25th May 2014 in Iwate Prefecture.

According to The Japan Times, Kawaei’s right thumb was cut and fractured as was Iriyama’s right little finger. The singers also suffered cuts on their heads, while the male staffer suffered cuts to his left hand.

All three injured were taken to a hospital and underwent surgery.
