YukiGodbless is a cosplayer from Thailand who — together with her cosplay partner JiakiDarkness, has represented their country at this year’s World Cosplay Summit 2011. Yuki takes some time off from her busy schedule to answer from questions for us at magnetic-rose.net.
When and how did you get into cosplay?
When I was young, I really loved Bishōjo Senshi Sailor Moon. My first cosplay happened when I was 6 or 7 years old, with my mom’s support. For me, cosplay became my way of inspiring the imagination, because I believe cosplay is a link between our world and the imaginary world.
What made you decide to team up with Jiaki and compete for WCS 11?
Jiaki is my cosplayer inspiration. The first time that I met him and watched his cosplay performance, I can feel something really special from him. I wanna bring him to cosplay’s biggest stage in the entire world, to make other people have the same inspiration that I have from him.
What is the hardest part about this competition? How have you dealt with any problems?
The hardest part for me is how to become the Thailand representative — because we tried so many times and we went through a lot of difficulties for both of us 😦
What was the best part about being a contestant to such a huge, popular event?
Actually I’m a big WCS fan and this year, I had the chance be at the V.I.P area with some snacks and watch the other team rehearse on the stage. OMG I feel like I’m dreaming!
I met a lot of great cosplayers around the world then we have such good friendship. The staff of WCS really worked hard and really cared about our performance. They are the best staff in this world. I got a million memories that I will not forget, forever.
What advise would you give to others who aspire to compete internationally as well?
I hope they are do their best and proud of their self no matter what. Cosplay competition is not about the competition only. It is a huge stage to show the talent of cosplayers from overseas and all over the world. The best prize is the friendship that will be forever, and the special memories that you can not find anywhere — it will not happen twice.
Yuki and Jiaki will both be at Cosplay Mania 11 as special guests. They would love to meet up with fellow cosplayers from the Philippines, and Yuki has this special message for everyone:
“I’m a cosplay fan. When I have time I always research some information, cosplay pictures, and cosplayers blogs around the world. I love to learn and find out the cosplay cultures from other countries. Cosplay culture in the Philippines is one of my interests since 1 or 2 years ago. I’m really glad to be there soon, and really glad to meet cosplayers there after I waiting so long. See you!!!”

I like how she’s really passionate about representing Thailand and I’m glad that she got her chance this year for WCS2011. Hope she’ll enjoy it here!

it was a long and hard road, according to her — so she and jiaki definitely deserved the win!
