Spotted dotting roadside billboards, city underpasses, and mall hallways in Metro Manila are print ads by Namie Amuro for Coke Zero.
Amuro signed up to do the ad campaign in February of this year alongside football star Nakata Hidetoshi. Coke Zero is Coca Cola’s zero-sugar version that the company is promoting as a healthier alternative to their signature drink.
For the television ad, Namie faces off in a dance number versus actors portraying the New Zealand All-Blacks rugby players performing the haka. The haka is a traditional Maori warrior dance performed by the championship rugby team before games.
In relation to this, Maori groups in New Zealand have expressed their displeasure over the supposedly inaccurate and culturally-insensitive portrayal. There has been no word from Coca Cola and Amuro’s production company about this issue.
The Philippine version shown on local channels is the fifteen second cut without the haka dancers.

Namie is the best, even in her super monkey days! She’s come a long way. She even looks great on the latest gisele mag cover
