So Rael and I went on an expedition up north trying to find some nice pieces of furniture for the partial home makeover. After a rather productive look-see of several Trinoma shops, we devoted the rest of our time to simply hanging out.
That’s how we found ourselves at Mental, a containment facility for the criminally insane masquerading as a clothing atelier and purveyor of lifestyle goods (it also works the other way around).
The first thing you notice when you enter the store is the staff decked out like assistants at Dr. Frankenstein’s laboratory (call me crazy, but I loved that!). The next thing you’ll notice is that for a store that puts out stuff you would normally only be able to find in overseas shops, their price range is fairly reasonable — even cheap, if you’re the sort who purchases stuff from H. NAOTO or BLACK PEACE NOW.
Some of our favorite things were these ultra-soft long-sleeved cotton tees studded with zippers — which I am positive that fans of Tetsuya Nomura would be able to relate to, several beautifully-tailored off-kilter button down tops reminiscent of Yohji Yamamoto’s work, and these hilarious zippered pouches shaped like womens underwear 😀
Mental has three branches AFAIK: their Trinoma store which we just visited, another in Market! Market!, and a third in SM Megamall.
We ended up not purchasing anything during our first browse, but I did end up falling in love with this punched pleather weekender in crazy candy colors and swore I would get it next payday. This — coming from someone who just bought a couple of new designer totes in Singapore; I am so fit to be institutionalized 😀

Weee! We just bought some stuffs here last week. Their clothes are awesome and their perfume labeled “Antidote” is so amusing. I even took a photo of their cool window display lol
P.S. They currently have a 50% off for the 2nd item promo 😀

4 of us balikbayans from Toronto instantly fell in love with Mental when we walked in the Trinoma location (BTW, best customer service there compared to the Mega Mall and Mall of Asia stores) In total, we bought 10 items. Mental, please set up shop in Toronto, Canada!

i love this shop so much… (i guess Trinoma and SM City North Edsa has the best customer service so far)… love the tees, shorts, for men… it’s a fun way to mix and match stuff cause the design of their clothes has a little twist (which i love so much)..
~oh btw i just got home and both a polo, shirt, and a shorts LOL…
