Last 31st August 2017, JPOP Manila had an exclusive sneak peek at the week-long Experience The Force Singapore event at Orchard Road in sunny Singapore! Part of the worldwide celebration of Force Friday, we had a lot of fun trying out the interactive light displays, marveled at a 1/6th scale model of the Millennium Falcon, and made pouty jealous faces at little kids learning to use lightsabres in Padawan training!
Organised by ReedPOP and The Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia, with event partner ION Orchard, and the support of the Singapore Tourism Board, the 10-day festival will take place from 1 – 10 September. It will kick off with the worldwide celebration of Star Wars Force Friday II – and fans in Singapore will be able to be a part of this global fan event celebrating the merchandise release of the upcoming movie Star Wars: The Last Jedi at ION Station, at Basement 4 of ION Orchard.
Southeast Asia will also welcome the first-ever Padawan Training, situated at ION2. Brave, aspiring Padawans aged between 4 – 12 are invited to train in the ways of the Force and learn how to master a lightsaber under the guidance of a Jedi Master. Finally, fans can get to meet the most adorable droid in the galaxy, BB-8, as he makes his debut through a virtual reality experience in Southeast Asia at ION Station, Basement 4.
The festivities will continue with exciting pop-up experiences and activities along Orchard Road, leading up to an epic experience at the Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention (STGCC) from 9 – 10 September. Star Wars: Experience the Force Singapore festival is one of the initiatives supported under the three-year collaboration between Singapore Tourism Board and The Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia.
