2013 Japanese Language Proficiency Test

The 2013 Japanese Language Proficiency Test will be held on 1st December (Sunday) simultaneously in Manila (De La Salle University – College of Saint Benilde), Cebu City (University of San Carlos), and Davao City (Mindanao Kokusai Daigaku).

The aim of the new JLPT is to create a more accurate standard for measuring Japanese language competency among non-Japanese learners. The test is divided into three sections: Vocabulary and Grammar, Reading Comprehension, and Listening.

Criteria

The examination covers vocabulary-grammar and listening-reading comprehension.

N1: The ability to understand Japanese used in a variety of circumstances; approximately the same level as the old Level 1 test, but designed to measure slightly more advanced abilities.

N2: The ability to understand Japanese used in everyday situations, and in a variety of circumstances to a certain degree; approximately the same level as the old Level 2 test.

N3: NEW! The ability to understand Japanese used in everyday situations to a certain degree; positioned at a level bridging the old level 2 and Level 3 tests.

N4: The ability to understand basic Japanese; approximately the same level as the old Level 3 test.

N5: The ability to understand some basic Japanese; approximately the same level as the old Level 4 test.

Examination fees are to be paid in full upon submission of duly accomplished forms with with two 2″x2″ ID photos attached, at the offices listed above on or before 13th September 2013.

Payments made out as company checks are accepted for groups composed of ten employees or more. All others are requested to settle their fees in cash.

Announcement of Results

Successful examinees will be issued Certificates of Proficiency by March 2014. All examinees will receive a Score Report.
