Continued from 2013 Tokyo Trip Day 10: Pokemon Center Tokyo
Slightly better than the trip to the Pokemon Center yesterday was today’s foray to Tokyo Character Street — a collection of anime and kyara shops near the Yaesu Exit of Tokyo Station. If you were ever in Tokyo and didn’t have the time to go to Akihabara, Nakano, and other areas of the city separately, this would be an excellent place to pick up souvenirs.
Tokyo Character Street has its own teeny-tiny Gundam Cafe, so if you didn’t fancy Starbucks, or of you didn’t have the time or inclination to go to Akihabara, this would be the perfect substitute. They also have a Jump Shop, which stocks items exclusively from its line-up of titles. Although the Gintama and Kuroko no Basuke goods where popular and plentiful, I think the best item on sale at the store were the One Piece manga panel plates — which you could put real food on and make it look like one of Sanji’s specialties.
Little girls (and big strapping men with fluffy hearts) will have their hands full at the triple threat of the Hello Kitty Store, the Rilakkuma Shop, and the Donguri Garden — which sells items from various Studio Ghibli series such as Tonari no Totoro (My Neighbor Totoro), Majou no Takkyubin (Kiki’s Delivery Service), and Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi (Spirited Away). Last but not least, card-carrying Lego Club members can have their pick of classic, Playmobil, Star Wars and The Avengers items at the Lego shop.
Credit cards are accepted at all shops so uhm have fun? ^^v
