The first ever Manila Meet-up for International Cosplay Day was held last 27th August 2011 at the SM City North EDSA Annex Cyberzone Activity Center. Jointly hosted by magnetic-rose.net and Cosplay.PH, this event has been included in the official the worldwide roster by the organizers of ICD.
The event featured an open promenade and a free photobooth where cosplayers and their friends could pose for photos and get free prints in mere minutes. It looks like everyone had a great time, and we’ll see you all again next year!
The other main event of the day was the SM North EDSA Leg of the Cosplay Tournament of Champions II. With a trip to Singapore at stake, John Rei Bernardo as an Ioprey Armor Blade Master and Carina Crisostomo as a Khezu Gunner (from the game Monster Hunter) snagged the title with their display of craftsmanship and skill.
The team — named Code 33, stands the chance to represent the Philippines at Anime Festival Asia’s Regional Cosplay Championships. The competition will be in November at Singapore’s Suntec City Convention Center.
The last two TORCH II Preliminary rounds will be on 4th September 2011 at SM Southmall and 24th September 2011 at SM City Manila. And on 1st and 2nd October 2011, the all eight teams will clash for the honor of being sole survivors of Cosplay Tournament of Champions II. Congratulations to the SM North EDSA team and good luck to all contestants in the Southmall and Manila legs!
Thank you very much to Cosplay Mania for the event invitation.
Sad I missed it due to work. >.<
