Via ANN: American rap-rock band Linkin Park — known worldwide for hits such as Papercut, Faint, and Somewhere I Belong (from The Transformers movie), had one of their tracks “The Catalyst” included in the OST for the new Gundam arcade game, entitled Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme Vs.
The album hit the streets yesterday, 15th September 2010. A special edition available only in Japan included a HGUC 1/144 RX-78GP01Fb Gundam GP01Fb Full Vernian kit. This Gunpla model was especially designed by the band, who are professed Gundam fans.
Linkin Park started out in 1996, when three friends — vocalist Mike Shinoda, lead guitarist Brad Delson, and drummer Rob Bourdon put up a band together. They then recruited deejay Joe Hahn, bassist Dave “Phoenix” Farrell, and singer Mark Wakefield to create a band called Xero. When Wakefield left, the group recruited Chester Bennington to complete the band line-up, and changed the name first to Hybrid Theory, and then later to Linkin Park.
Linkin Park’s debut album — Hybrid Theory, went multi-platinum in many countries all over the world. Their sophomore outing Meteora, topped the Billboard album chart in 2003. The band’s third album Minutes to Midnight — released in 2007, likewise topped the Billboard charts. The band has sold over 50 million albums worldwide and has won two Grammy Awards.
