AFA X: Anime Festival Asia 2010

The wait is over! At 10:00 AM today in Singapore, Anime Festival Asia organizers have revealed the line up for AFA X — one of the largest Japanese pop culture events in South East Asia.

AFA X will once again be held at Singapore’s Suntec City Convention Center on the 13th and 14th of November 2010. This marks the third time the convention was held in The Lion City, but organizers have announced plans to move the con to a different city in the region — making it a truly South East Asian event. Let’s watch out for that in future conventions.

AFA X will be housed in two halls at Suntec — one to serve as the main dealers and exhibition hall, and a second one as a concert venue for the return of the I Love Anisong concert series. In the Festival Hall, you’ll find Akiba Town — filled to the brim with anime-related exhibits and merchant booths like fan favorite COSPA. Also at the Festival Hall are the twin cafes: maid cafe Moe Moe Kyun for gents and butler cafe Atelier Royale for ladies. Last but not least, the Festival Hall will be home to the Bushiroad CCG Championships, and the all-new Akiba Mini-Stage.

Next door in the Stage Hall is where some of the convention’s biggest draws — the AFA Regional Cosplay Championships, exclusive film screenings, and of course the I Love Anisong concert series, will be held. This year marks the return of the AFA Regional Cosplay Championships — where pairs from all over South East Asia vie to take home the top prize. The Stage Hall will also host a screening of the much awaited Gundam 00 movie and the brand-new Haruhi Suzumiya film.

And of course — how could we forget? — the Stage Hall will host the I Love Anisong concert series. This year features the third year that Anisong legend Mizuki Ichiro and Universal Bunny MAY’N will be joining fans in Singapore. The line-up is also beefed-up to feature anime theme duo angela, schoolgirl sensations Scandal, and legendary anime band JAM Project (with last year’s special guest Fukuyama Yoshiki-san).

Tickets are available in denominations ranging from SGD 8, 15, 18, 55, 118, all the way to 198 — with each ticket tier given access to different parts of the event hall. For more info on the event, all competitions, and all Anisong concerts, please access the official website at animefestival.asia. See you guys in Singapore!

Thank you very much to Maurice of SOZO for the press con invitation.
