Prime Trade Asia invites all Japanese pop culture enthusiasts to The Best of Anime 2010. The event will be held on the 19th of September 2010 at Function Room 5 of the SMX Convention Center, SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City.
Unique to the event is a selection of activity pavilions featuring different themes. The Japan Pavilion showcases the countryโs traditional and popular arts and culture. A Manga Library will feature a collection of manga magazines and comics, while an Anime Illustration Pavilion will hold seminars in animation and graphic arts.
A Cosplay Pavilion will house costume displays and a competition, as well as workshops on costuming, prop-making, and make-up. A Japanese Cooking Pavilion will hold lessons and demonstrations on sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes.
The event will also features venues for photography, online games, arcade games, trading card games, and many more. The Best of Anime will culminate in a J-rock cover band performance by the winner of the 2010 J-Pop Anime Singing Contest Himitsu Heiki.

professionals yes, but it’s also their first anime event. while my expectations are high, i am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt if things don’t go as well as — say, their more established counterparts.

I was wondering, aside from books and the anime-con activity, will there be stalls selling local independent comics and artworks (like an artist alley)?

i’m not sure about the artists alley (although other cons like KOMIKON and MCC have them), but since the event will be at the MBF there will be manga offered on sale by the different retailers.
