2010 Eiga Sai Japanese Film Festival

The Japan Foundation Manila in cooperation with the Embassy of Japan, the Shangri-La Plaza Mall, and the UP Diliman Film Institute is once again proud to present the Eiga Sai Japanese Film Festival.

The 2010 Eiga Sai will kick off with a Special Invitational screening of Always San-chome no Yuhi 2 on the 1st of July 2010 at the Shangri-La Mall Cineplex Cinema 4.

A total of eight contemporary Japanese films will be shown, including Battery, Soredemo Boku wa Yatte nai, Ashita no Watashi no Tsukurikata, Houtai Club, Megane, Juuyonsai, Tokyo Tower Okan to Boku to Tokidoki Oton, plus two animated films Miyori no Mori and Kafka Inaka Isha.

Miyori no Mori tells the story of eleven year-old Miyori who was left by her neglectful parents in the care of her grandmother, who lived next to a eerily silent forest. Miyori takes plenty of walks through the forest to pass the time, and soon discovers that the forest is not as silent as everybody thinks it is.

Films will be screened for free in Japanese with English subtitles. Metro Manila screenings will be at the Shangri-La Mall Cinema 4 from 1st to 11th July, and at the UP Film Institute from 18th to 21st August. 2010 Eiga Sai will also have provincial screenings at the Gaisano South City Mall in Davao City on 23rd to 24th July, and the Ayala Center in Cebu City on 3rd to 8th August.

For detailed screening schedules and inquiries, please visit the JFM website or call their telephone numbers (+632) 811-6155 to 58 during business hours.
