2010 J-Pop Anime Singing Contest

The 2010 J-pop Anime Singing Competition, organized by The Embassy of Japan and The Japan Foundation Manila in partnership with the SM Supermalls and SM Cyberzone, will be accepting applications until 20th May 2010.

Entries must be received by the Japan Information and Culture Center (JICC) Library, Embassy of Japan, 2627 Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City (MAP) at the end of the business day, whether hand-carried to the Embassy or sent via courier.

Prospective contestants must form groups of three to five members, submit a fully accomplished application form, a group photo and short write up, and a demo CD containing two Japanese songs performed by the group. Contestants of Japanese descent (Filipino-Japanese) can only fulfill a supporting role such as back-up musician or vocalist. For a complete list of rules, click here.

The Grand Finals will be held on 24th July 2010 at Cyberzone, SM City North EDSA (Annex).

The 2010 J-pop Anime Singing Competition is also brought to us by TOEI Philippines, Nihongo Center Foundation, Center for Pop Music, Yoshinoya, Animation International Licensing Philippines, the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Philippines, Inc., Ajinomoto, Canon, Heritage Hotel, Panasonic, Sony, Toshiba, and Yakult. HERO TV and MAX FM 103.5 are also on board as media partners.

    Yes, you can. As long as the lyrics are in Japanese and your group will perfrom the whole song not just the game opening version of it.

    Hey! can I just enter as a solo? since looking for someone is very tiresome and it’s very hard to look for someone who’s willing to join the contest….

    1. again, this is a group competition — strictly no solo acts allowed. if you want to compete solo i suggest you just join karaoke competitions held at several other local anime conventions instead of this competition. good luck.
