Yoshitaka Amano — award-winning artist and much-beloved concept artist for Squaresoft and Square Enix games, will be directing his first full length feature entitled “Zan”.

To help him realize this project, Amano also created his own production company named Studio Deva Loka (deva loka means “(a) collection of gods”).

To make themselves known, the studio has already been exhibiting at major international conventions like the Tokyo Anime Fair 2010 and San Francisco’s New People exhibition. The exhibit featured the giant statue of a mechanized cat, who will be one of the characters in the upcoming film.

Zan is the story of a samurai from ancient Japan who has been transported to another dimension to fight evil there. The film is currently under production and is due for release in 2011.
