Deadline for Submission of Demo CDs Extended to 20th May 2009
We have good news for prospective contestants to The J-pop Anime Singing Competition organized by The Embassy of Japan and The Japan Foundation Manila! If you are able to submit your application forms and other documents to the JICC office by 20th April 2009, you have up to 20th May to submit your demo CDs.
Amateur groups of three to ten members are invited to join! These groups can be singing groups, bands, or groups composed of at least one vocalist and two back-up dancers. Performers may use pre-recorded music without the vocal track, or play their own instruments. For a complete list of rules and requirements, you may either read our previous post or visit the official website of The Embassy of Japan in the Philippines (MAP).
The J-pop Anime Singing Competition is jointly held by The Embassy of Japan in the Philippines and The Japan Foundation Manila to celebrate the 2009 Philippines-Japan Friendship Month. The top ten groups will be performing at the Grand Finals on the 25th July 2009 at the Market! Market! Activity Center (MAP).

hi joyce. if you sent your entry via courier (DHL, FED EX, LBC, etc.) and they have guaranteed that it be received by the JICC tomorrow, it should be no problem with the staff. however if you used regular mail and it will take them longer to receive it, please notify JICC by e-mailing them at: jicc-mnl@japanembassy.ph

Hi uhmm, i would like to ask a question. See, me and my friends already passed all the documents including the application and the demo tape last April 17.. and we were really shocked to find out that the deadline was extended to May 20.
So, back to our question, can you please clarify what this phrase means?

Because it says on the rules before that the demo cd/tape should be passed along with the application form and lyrics of the song, so that’s why we passed the all together.Ö
And so, its kinda unfair for us because me and my friends did our best to pass everything before the deadline. We didn’t even have time to practice that much.:[
So we were just wondering if we can re-record again or pass another demo tape before the new deadline which is on May 20..

hi! the decision to extend the deadline of application for the demo CDs was made by the JICC staff just a few days before the original april 20 deadline, so just like you i found out about it fairly recently. in case you would like to resubmit your demo CD, please get in touch with the JICC staff at jicc-mnl@japanembassy.ph, and explain to them your situation. good luck!

Are japanese songs of “Tohoshinki”(a korean group) considered as J-Pop??Ö

DBSK is a korean group, despite their japanese songs; i believe only japanese pop acts are qualified for the competition. i’ll have to ask the JICC staff just to be sure; i’ll let you know of their decision once i find out.

If they extended the submission of demo CD’s why not extend the sending of application form as well? My friends and I are planning to join this contest but we haven’t send the application form yet, is there no other way to extend the application form until May 20?

hi there. the final say in extending deadlines lies with the event staff, and we have to respect any decision they wish to implement in the competition. also, in my opinion applicants were given plenty of time to send in their applications, since the contest was announced in february and the deadline for applications was april.
applicants were given further time to put together their demo CDs by extending the submission for that by another month. so you could have sent in just the paper application on 20th april and submit your demo CD an entire month later, and it would’ve been fine. please understand that the event staff have their own schedules to keep, so we should respect any deadlines they set for the singing competition.
