BLush: The Philippine BL Convention has announced its line-up of special guests for its second year. The theme for 2014 is “Secrets & Confessions”, and this theme is reflected in the launch of the BLush Anthology Vol 2 and BLush’s signature butler cafe La Vie en Rose, as well as with its guest line-up.
Doujinshi artist and academic -fe will be coming to Manila for the first time for BLush Convention. -fe has been publishing her doujinshi in various comic conventions in Asia, including Japan’s ComiKe and Singapore’s Anime Festival Asia. She’ll talk about her experience as a doujinshi artist and give advice to budding artists.
Joining her is Tintin Pantoja, a professional artist who’s been published in the US. Her books include Hamlet: The Manga Edition, Manga Math, and Who is AC?, a comic written by Hope Larson. She’ll be talking about the basics of structuring comics and other technical matters.
BLush Convention will also be premiering an exclusive documentary on doujinshi and boys’ love. Produced by NHK and directed by Bharath Murthy, The Fragile Heart of Moe dives into the world of Japan’s comic subculture. As a comic creator and a fan himself, Murthy reveals the various dimensions of the subculture.
BLush will take place on 3rd May 2014 at Ikeda Hall, University of the Philippines Diliman Campus, Quezon City. Tickets are available only on a pre-sold basis, and are already sold out.
