Call for Applications to JENESYS 2.0: Manga, Anime, Cosplay

The Government of Japan is issuing a call for applicants to the 2014 JENESYS 2.0 programme. The main theme is “The Traditional Culture/Heritage/Art”, with the sub-theme “Anime, Manga, and Cosplay”.

The programme will run from the 21st to the 30th of March 2014. The highlight of the trip is an excursion to the Anime Japan Expo, to be held for the very first time in 2014.

Twenty-four (24) participants will be selected to take part in the program. To qualify, you must be a student, aged 18 to 30, enrolled in a college, university, or vocational school.

Students who have a strong interest in Japanese pop culture such to manga, animation, and cosplay, as well as those majoring in animation, illustration, or design are invited to apply.

Former participants in previous JENESYS Programs are no longer qualified to apply for the new program.

Applicants must submit an accomplished application form, a Certificate of Enrollment, a Letter of Recommendation from their principal or dean (addressed to Ms. Mary Anne Luis, Head of NCCA-International Affairs Office), and a copy of their passport with validity up to 30 September 2014.

Submitting a portfolio of works is also highly encouraged. A complete listing of the guidelines can be found at the website of the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines.

Applications must be sent via email to jenesys2014 [at] gmail [dot] com. The deadline of submission of complete application requirements is on 31 January 2014 at 6:00 PM.
