Take Five: A New Take on Japanese Drama

Do not know if brilliant marketing or subtle manipulation: Japanese broadcaster TBS has released a cops-and-robbers drama entitled “Take Five“, to coincide with the Raphael exhibit in Tokyo. “Take Five” centers on a group of thieves who steal mostly art and other valuable objects — including a piece included in the Raphael exhibit.

Take Five stars Karasawa Toshiaki, Matsuyuki Yasuko, Matsuzaka Tori, Baisho Mitsuko, and Inagaki Goro (SMAP).

With the Raphael exhibit coming to a close, the series is also winding down with just five or so episodes to go. The highlight for me personally would be Episode 8, which features a rival gang of thieves composed of Takarazuka otoko-yaku stars. To the unfamiliar, the Takarazuka is an all-female theatre group with both female (onna-yaku) and male (otoko-yaku) roles played by women. The otoko-yaku stars are, for lack of a better term, extremely hawt >.>

Take Five is currently airing Friday nights at 10PM JST on TBS.
