For the second year in a row, the Manila Meet-up for International Cosplay Day was held last 25th August 2012 at the SM City North EDSA Annex Cyberzone Activity Center. Jointly hosted by magnetic-rose.net and Cosplay.PH and supported by T-Tees, this event is officially recognized in the ICD worldwide roster.

      

The event featured a free photobooth (where cosplayers and their friends could pose for photos and get prints in mere minutes), as well as an Ichiban Kuji prize pull exclusively for cosplayers (where cosplay fans walked away with original DVDs, t-shirts, and souvenirs from Tokyo Anime Fair 2012). The free event was a blast for everyone who came!

      

The event also played host to the Regional Semifinals of the Cosplay Tournament of Champions for 2012. Five teams battled it out for the honor of being the SM North EDSA Champion, as well as a lucrative slot in the Grand Finals to be held at CosplayMania 12. CosplayMania 12 is slated for the 29th and 30th of September 2012 at the SMX Convention Center, SM Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City.

      

The afternoon belonged to the dynamic and highly acrobatic Adventure Team, who cosplayed as Mitsurugi and Kilik from the fighting game series Soul Calibur (Soul Edge). Boasting a realistic (and painful!) fight sequence, Marko and Dom brought new meaning to the words “smile til it hurts”

They will be joining other finalists from SM Malls around the Philippines, for the final fight to determine the Philippine representative to Anime Festival Asia’s Regional Cosplay Championships, at CosplayMania 12 — again, this 29th and 30th September 2012 at the SMX Convention Center.
