Via ANN: The Mitaka Ghibli Museum (Mitaka no Mori Ghibli Bijustukan) will be undergoing a major face-lift with its exhibition halls for a massive new feature to run from 2011 June to 2010 May.

The new special exhibition — dubbed “Nekobus Kara Mita Fuukei-ten”, will feature adult-sized recreations of locations from several classic Ghibli films — including a nekobus from Tonari no Totoro (My Neighbor Totoro), the antique shop from Mimi o Sumaseba (Whisper of the Heart), the roadside food stalls from Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi (Spirited Away), and Sophie’s family’s millinery from Howl’s Moving Castle (Howl no Ugoku Shiro).

Ghibli Museum already has an existing catbus at the third floor sun room next to the winding staircase for the roof; however, only children ages twelve and below are allowed to play with it (BAWWWWW T_T).

There is also a second catbus in Tokyo (which adults can enter), located at Donguri Republic in Odaiba’s Palette Town, however this particular catbus is in poor condition compared to its Ghibli Museum sibling.
