The Japan Foundation Manila is inviting all enthusiasts of Japanese language and culture to take part in the 2011 Nihongo Fiesta. This year’s events will take place on 26th February 2011 at the Shangri-la Plaza Mall, Mandaluyong City.
This year’s event follows on the heels of last year’s success at the Mall of Asia with the Street Fashion Contest and the Shounen Knife concert.
The event will feature the 38th Nihongo Speech Contest — where contestants come from all over the Philippines, and the winner will receive an all-expense-paid week-long study tour in Japan.
The 2011 Nihongo Fiesta will also feature the 6th Nihongo Quiz Bee, Paper Plane Craft Workshops, and last but not least, a performance by the “Seshami Street Boys”.
The “Seshami Street Boys” is composed of a pair of shamisen performers named Pierre Ono and Yasutoyo Torami. This dynamic duo plays street-style and urban music with a Japanese three-stringed lute called the shamisen.
Admission is absolutely free! For more information, please visit the JFM website at www.jfmo.org.ph.
