The UP Philippines-Japan Friendship Club (UP Tomo-kai) is celebrating 19 years of Cultural Harmony with “Tomo ni Hibiku Futatsu no Koe”. The weeklong celebrations open on 28th July 2009 at the 2nd floor lobby of the Palma Hall Complex, with an ikebana, kitsuke, Filipiniana, Japanese and Filipino food expo co-presented with Filipica.
If you like your party with more of an edge, bring a friend along and join the Wasabi Eating Contest on 29th July 2009! The fastest pair to consume a container full of fiery hot wasabi and crunchy breadsticks will receive a prize package worth PhP 1500.
Relax and unwind from academic stress at a traditional Kissaten on 30th July 2009, at the 2nd floor lobby of Palma Hall. Tomo-Kai members in traditional Japanese clothing will be serving Kapeng Barako, green tea, and tea biscuits free of charge. The Tomo-Kai Library with its collection of manga, magazines, books, and Pinoy komiks will also be available for perusal.
The week winds up with the 19th Anniversary Cultural Night on 31st July 2009, where traditional and contemporary performing arts from both the Philippines and Japan share the stage. This event will be held at the Dalisay Aldaba Hall, UP Diliman from 6PM onwards.
