Over at Twitter earlier this morning, Broadway musical sensation Lea Salonga declared her love for Ninomiya Tomoko’s influential series Nodame Cantabile. I was genuinely surprised and maybe a little amused that one of my childhood heroes was watching shoujo anime.

Unfortunately, all is not going well with the series’ author Ninomiya Tomoko-sensei. She was recently hospitalized for acute appendicitis. She was apparently rushed to the hospital after sever stomach pains and a high fever; she was in the process of meeting a deadline for Nodame Cantabile. The series is now on hold until further notice.

I wish Ninomiya-sensei all the best and I hope she has a speedy recovery.
